Please help identify my motor

So up till yesterday I would have staked my life on the fact that I have a 75 HP Evinrude motor. But apparently it is not?? The tag says E75FSXSIF and the cover has a big Evinrude logo but I can't find this on any model number guide etc.

I went to get a prop for it and the prop guy sold me the wrong prop when I measured the shaft for him he told me that I have at least 115hp motor and I showed him the model number. confused him too. (prop issue solved btw)

So why till yesterday? I got kicked off the etec forum for not having an etec motor which is understandable, ignorance on my part, (thought the "E" stood for E-TEC) and was told that it was an OMC FICHT motor??

Ok so I do have other issues in my life but right now this is one that maybe somebody on here could help with.

enclosed are photos of the tag and the cover

It is a 2001 EVINRUDE 75 HP motor.------Direct injection motor.---The first S is for " special styling " whatever that means .---The X is for 25 " shaft-------The SI indicates 2001 model year.

So I'm new to this, but I do have a question...

This was the question that I posted to the E-TEC forum before I got the boot....

I have a pontoon that I got in 2018 that has a 2001 75 HP (E75FSXSIF) that ran smooth and worked well for the first year, but when I got it it was left out uncovered for years and the upholstery was shot.

I purchased all new seats and the steering console etc and replaced all this the next summer. So here is the crazy part.
Since the replacement of the console, I have an over charge alarm and my volt gauge reads about16 + volts at anything over an idle and the depth finder is way out of whack (which I have heard is from the voltage being too high)

Anyway, my question is this. Is there a signal that the EMM reads to tell the motor to produce a higher voltage (like a regulator) or something that I must have missed hooking back up? It seems a bit too coincidental that the EMM went bad. Or maybe it did?

any help will be appreciated

You would want to talk to a dealer / shop if you can find one.-------For the price of that EMM I would want a whole 90 HP older motor on my boat !!!

Your second photo, just below the E in Evinrude, it does say Ficht.
MaYbe the cover is not original?
it says 2006 EPA standard, which doesn’t jive if it was built in 2001.

I know that is very confusing to me. I bought the boat from my cousin, which originally had a 50 hp and he bought the motor as an upgrade, then sold the whole thing to me.

thanks for responding

edchris77----???----Perhaps that motor built in 2001 already met the EPA regulations set for 2006 model year motors.-----You might find the very same designation on other brands of motors as well.

I did think of that. If it has direct injection, it probably does meet the reg.The EPA first proposed the ‘06 standard back around 1996, but IIRC it only applied to personal watercraft & jet boats.
it was gradually phase in over the next 9 years, but of course manufacturers didn’t apply the full standards at the beginning. California also had a couple of added levels.
The Canadian Givt banned early 2 strokes from most National Parks, it’s either 4 stroke or direct injection 2 stroke.
if the engine is carbureted, it is very difficult to meet the full level, as you know, they blow 20%, or more of the fuel/air mixture through without it being efficiently combusted.
The big gains came when they went to direct injected 2 strokes.
