Plastic cap found in the engine cowl - 2002 90HP two stroke

I was cleaning some oil out of my engine cowl with a rag on the end of a paint stirrer. I stuck it down in front of the oil tank and when I pulled it up there was a plastic cap sitting in the bottom of the engine cowl under the oil tank. I am not sure if it was there before or if I knocked it loose. I can't see anywhere that looks like this cap should go and can't find anything on it in the diagram. I am guessing that it fit somewhere that I can't see without a mirror. Can anybody tell me where this cap goes and if it will be harmful to use my engine without this cap? See the cap in the pictures

Hi faztbullet, it looks just like the vent cap but the vent cap is still in place on hen top of the oil tank.

Thanks for the reply! I am hoping that is the case. I have looked over the complete engine parts diagram and the only cap I can find is the oil vent cap so I feel pretty good about it.
