On Mercury stator parts number what does the last number or numbers stand for? For example 398-5454A(26) Thanks

The "A" number is the series of that part ,the higher the number the newer it is. It also designates models some times .This usually means part was upgraded during production, such as a lot of the old stators was encapsulated but the latest are not....

Yes that is a part # for the stator. Have seen some newer stators for my motor that i have never seen before. Can someboy explain why the updated part Thanks as always
