Ordering Parts

Does anyone have any suggestions on a place to order parts on line or in the Tucson AZ area? Currently I'm looking for two port flush caps for a 130. Will it hurt to run the engines if I don't have them? The previous owner left the flush connector's screwed in all the time, don't want to do that unless I have to.

Not sure about the 130. But the 200 and 225 use standard garden hose connectors.

Since my boat resides on a lift, it was a pain in the rump to flush the engine. So I rigged up an extension hose clamped to the rear transom.

This little modification makes flushing the Honda engine very simple and easy, and eliminates the requirement to detach the Honda flushing hose, and re-attaching it when you are done.

That is a modification to the Honda flushing system that allows me to flush the engine from inside the boat while it is on the lift or trailer. It is very simple to fabricate using 1/2" automotive heater hose, a 1/2" T connection (West Marine has them for on-board water tubing), six stainless steel hose clamps, and fittings for a garden hose. Simply use two very short pieces of hose to clamp on the appropriate male and female fittings on each end of the T connector, then clamp the longer hose to the third outlet of the T and run that to the back of your transom. Fit that end with a garden hose on-off valve and a quick-disconnect for a garden hose. I anchor that end to the back of the transom with a stainless steel snap clamp. Send me an e-mail at [email protected] and I'll send a picture of how to set it up.

I think you are referring to item #15 (rubber grommet). http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Honda/Outboard%20Engine/2002/BF130A2%20LA%20MARINE%20ENGINE%2C%20JPN%2C%20VIN%23%20BZBE-1300001/EXTENSION%20CASE/parts.html
It just covers the access to the flush connection. There is a check valve in the flushing circuit, so things do not have to be sealed (unless it is leaking) The grommet does keep misc water and debris from getting into the engine.

boats.net is as good as any place to get the parts. You should be able to order through your local dealer.

thanks for the input. I really don't have a local dealer so I must rely on the internet for my support. I thought that particular part was called "port flush cap" but I just wasn't sure if it was missing would I be asking for trouble using the engine. thanks again.

The owner's manual refers to it as a port flush cap, but the parts breakdown refers to what it is.... a grommet. It is just a rubber plug to plug the hole.

It can be found in the "extension case" section of the parts breakdown. As you can see from the parts breakdown, the dotted line infers that the grommet goes into the hole in the lower cover.

As I said before, it will not necessarily harm the engine to run without it. Your hole is already open now with the flush attachment connected. Any opening there just allows debris and water to get under the hood. It is always good to keep that to a minimum but not catastrophic.
