Fishing here on this one.
Customer brought his boat over this evening and these are the things he mentioned.

One day he had a low oil alarm. Added oil and it cleared. Good.
The next problem was this one. I haven't worked on a Optimax since school, 10 years ago.
He said he was running around @ 5k rpm and that was about his normal high speed run rpms.
But he says all a sudden his rpm dropped 500 rpm, and at the same time he lost about 5 or more mph.

He took the boat out again days later to check if it still does it and said it does.
So he can't get the rpm back nor can he get the speed back. And no alarms?

Nothing pops in my mind that would cause only a 500ish rpm loss and remain.
Only thing I can find in the book is it states in the trouble shooting chart;
7. Speed reduction (RPM reduced or limited to 3000 rpm).
a. Low battery voltage
b. Over heat condition
c. Oil pump electrical failure
d. TPS failure (if tps fails, rpm is reduced approximately
20% abs the ECM refers to the MAP sensor.

So 7.d possibly causing the problem?
Nothing visible on boat bottom, foot, prop etc.

Not really sure where to start on this one except checking tps first.

Start with a compression test. Then check air and fuel pressure. Then check fuel injector and direct injector operation. Make sure you are not swinging around a dead hole.

Thanks Chris, will do.
I told him that too, I said that just doesn't sound like an issue, more like a " it appears to be a problem but isn't".

Curious, the book says the TPS on this model is NOT adjustable and likewise doesn't even list the voltage output.
The larger Optimax tps is adjustable and it gives specs.
So it appears there is no test for the tps on this motor lol that's really odd.
How would you know it has an issue I'd there is no reference to check it.
