only one cylinder firing

The engine ran fine last year when I replaced the impeller. I didn't run it after that, but this year it won't start up. I found that only the middle cylinder on the starter side, or right facing the engine looking towards the bow is firing. I had a weak battery but have replaced it and had an extra battery jumped in with the charger on them both at 50 amp boost, so I think it was turning fast enough. This was with the plugs in as I was still attempting to start it.
Any help will be appreciated. I did do a search first, but did not find the solution.

Compression test first w/ignition disabled; all plugs out...record each cylinder psi. Clean all electrical connections w/CRC electric cleaner and 800 grit paper then get back to us.

Pull the plugs and retest for spark, if you have spark the start/cables/battery have a problem as not spinning fast enough. You need not check compression oat this time......

Thanks for the replys. I am fairly mechanically inclined, so I did know enough to know that the compression doesn't go out on 5 cylinders while setting over the winter. I am not, however, very familiar with outboard engine electrics. I have four leads from the stator. Two yellow and two yellow with black tracer. Should I check between a combination of these or to ground from each and is it AC voltage I am looking for?

I have read threw the information at that link several times and it doesn't seem to address firing on only one cylinder.
I was going to pull all plugs and test for spark tonight, but my 65 pound light fell on my hand and I sort of lost interest. I will get to it later.

Okay, I pulled all plugs this morning and still only firing no.3. I am still not sure of how to test the stator. I have 2 yellow and 2 yellow with black tracer wires coming from the stator to a terminal block on back of engine. This block also has some red wires on another post. There is also a device on the port side of the engine. This device is inserted into the engine block and looks to me like some kind of proximity switch. It has three wires, one of which is grounded. The other two, a blue and a white, go into a black box mounted on the port side also. This box has a purple, a tan/blue, a green and a black. I don't see these on any of the diagrams I have been able to find.

Help please. Do I maybe have a aftermarket stator with different color wiring? Is there any testing I can do with a standard multi-meter?

Here is a picture of the other device that I can't find in a wiring diagram. Any ideas?

Okay, I figured out what the other device and box are. They are the oil injection pump sensor and control unit. The oil injector has been removed so I am going to disconnect the control unit and see if that helps with the firing problem.
