Omc remote control accessory wiring

I have a 1982 Johnson 75HP with a late model mechanical shift remote control. One wire from the accessory plug that is grey which I know is for the tach. However there is a purple wire that turns on with the ignition switch but only gets 6 or 7 volts when turned on. Not sure what this would be used for or if it’s supposed to be 12v for the accessories (fuel gauge pos, tach pos, voltmeter pos). Any thoughts or solutions?

You should only use that power source for the lights in any instruments.----Not intended for fish finders or music making stuff.

Should be a black wire also...you should have 12V measured between these as are used for powering the instruments. If not need to check grounds and possible internal switch issue.

So installing a voltmeter using the purple accessories cable in the controller is a good idea? Its not only for a tach? (sorry, I have more or less same motor and question).

Interesting! How do they get 6 volts here? Is there some hidden transformer? Sounds more like a continuity issue.
