OMC Jet drive

Found a Jacuzzi jet pump that was designed for OMC and supposedly can be used to replace an existing I/O drive with either a Ford or GM v8. Don't know much about jets but the idea of bolting on a jet pump if/when my 800 drive goes south is kind of interesting. Is this idea more work and hassle than its worth?

If it was myself if I wanted a jet boat that bad I'd just go buy a jet boat with one already installed. Lot's of work to convert. Also $$$$$.

was more curious than anything how hard the conversion would be.

Ayuh,... Not only will you need to alter the hole in the transom, you'll have to cut a hole in the bottom of the hull for the pump pickup....

Generally speaking, the Jacuzzi design has been superseded by others that are far more efficient. American Turbine, Berkeley and Hamilton to name a few. Most Jacuzzi owners either replaced the drive or did a conversion that allows the use of an American Turbine bowl and impeller. It's about a $2000 conversion. Jacuzzi parts are nearly impossible to find.
While installation is not particularly difficult you may need to move the engine forward and definitely have to do something different with the exhaust.
