OMC 210 motor ID & Trim

How do I tell what year and model my OMC 210 engine/sterndrive is? It is on a Formula 233, bought new by my Dad and delivered in May 1970. Dad's Service manual is for a TUFM-19E, but the mechanic says its a '68 or '69. The motor is #J0117168. The Formula hull is #2307165.

Also have spent "hundreds of dollars" on getting the Trim working with new solenoids, motor, etc. It worked three times this year and has quite again. Any thoughts?

Thanks, but that is the point, I need to find out the year of the OMC motor (Chevy 283?) and stern drive. The link you show asks for that information without telling me how to find it!

OMC 3 litre Model#802 FTHRCRA He has an 84 stringer, in his model number, the 8 is supposed to be a 3.
The CR in the model number indicates the year.
OMC / Year / Code.
