Hello all, I have a question as a new user to this forum.
I have a 1973 Merc 500 w/Thunderbolt Ignition (SER#3482166), which I believe is a 1973. I am looking at a Mercury 40HP w/Thunderbolt Ignition (SER#7048776) that I believe is a 1983.
I want to take the lower unit off the 40HP and put it on my 50. I have tried using the online Mercury parts catalogue to compare parts numbers, but am having a hard time searching for the engine's by serial number and finding part numbers that match up. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
