Old 55 Sea Horse ignition sensor

Well tried to start the old Sea Horse a few days ago and she didn't fire at all. I did some testing and found that the timer base sensor was open, no reading at all and should have read 10 to 20 ohms.
So I replaced the timer base an she fire right up and idles like a champ.
The only question is should I check the timing?
I did not change any of the adjustments on the linkaqe to the timer base arm, and was an exact replacement part! I do not have a timing light so will buy one if I have to but honestly don't know if I need to check the timing! It fired up and idled fine!
