Hello Forum , 2001 Mercury 250 EFI Problems.. Batteries have been on trinkle charge since Feb, took boat out for 1st time today and 15 minute run to gas dock, turned off, started up took an hour+ ride to spot shut it off and she would not start ( i was running with 1 battery one just in case this happened) switched to two batteries and she started up ... now volt gauge in dash says 0 so assumed that was stuck as volt gauge in my GPS unit is reading 13.2-13.2 while running (think suppose to be 13.8) ... now had this issue last year and i spent the end of season with boat always running as mechanic said during winter will go threw it, NEVER did ... also if I pull motor out of water after use next time going to use it she will almost if even start, crank so much it drains batteries down ill hook up jump and starts.... I have replaced both batteries start of last summer and also this past nov !! dont know if both same issue or separate ... .. Any help on this will be great as getting a GOOD merc mechanic in Long Beach, NY to show up and not want to drain my bank account is impossable , Thanks, Tim

what does the batteries read after running for a while with the motor stopped?13.2 is low while running above 2k rpm......i would expect above 14 volts if you are fully charged when you put the boat in the water..

that gauge reading zero could be just a gauge or it could be an indication of your problem....my personal rule is to fix what you see broke first....
