not shifting into forward 200 efi

i have twin engines and lost forward in one and when i looked at all the linkage they looked good but they went in the opposite directions when i move the throttles forward and reverse doesn't make sense is something wrong with the linkage or lower unit ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED THANK YOU YEAR2000 MERCURY 200 EFI OUTBOARDS

Sounds like someone was running a std lower in reverse with a counter rotating prop,gears don't live long in this scenario
