Ok all need imput again : port motor honda 225 yr 2002,,, died as running idle from one spot to next brought to mechanic to trouble shoot. check fuel from tank to motor,I replaced hp filter, racor inline filter, replaced squeeze primer bulb.... had fuel coming from tank to motor pulled line to ensure fuel coming out of hose when pushing primer bulb.... Checked to hear fuel pump enigize it did fuel comes out of hp pump , drain hp pump to enusre not blocked... switched computer on side of motor to other side to see if problem would siwtch to other motor by switching computer... nothing.. spend countless hours motor started felt by messing with electrical plugs might have effected iy positively only to find out next day died again while idiling out.. motor seems like no fuel pressure fuel bulb goes soft we pump solid stills solid but motor doesnt start... Able to spray starter fluid in air vent motor will run untill fluid burns off.. diffently starving for fuel ... could it be fuel pump hooked to a honda diganotic tool no codes thrown ??????frustrating straving for fuel why ? maybe harness not firing pump ? any ideas ... thanks in advance Jamie

Jamie - just to clarify - no alarms, and no codes coming from shunting the service connector, correct?

Top of mind based on what you wrote - you have a loose or corroded electrical connection somewhere. Those types of problems are tough to track down. When that happens, the first thing I try to do is bypass the kill switch to eliminate that as a possible problem.

update turn ignition key to start good motor can hear pump energize and spray fuel bad motor doesn't make any sound at all just a clicking anyone think its the fuel pump or electrical controlling pump ?

Unplug the fuel pump and test for 12 volts coming to the pump. If 12 volts, then try a direct connect to the pump and see if that will activate it. If not, bad pump.

mechanic used 12 volt battery to check fuel pump on Thursday it did activate and show 12 volts going to it so where do I go from here anybody's guess see why I am frustrated

Earlier you said when you turned on the key switch, the fuel pump did not energize, but when you did a direct connect to 12 volts, it activated. Correct? And you swapped ECM's, and the problem didn't move. How difficult is it to swap your key switch consoles? That will either isolate the problem or eliminate the key switch as the issue.

I think fuel pump not energized today was battery getting low charge. .. used a external key switch hook directly to harness other day still same problem bring her back to Mechanic Monday. .. frustrating

I think Chawk is on the right track with corrosion or dirty contact.

Since it ran with starting fluid, it seems that you have spark and compression....and the ECM is probably functioning (for the most part).

Your fuel pump is activated through the fuel pump relay in the main relay module. It gets its power for 10amp fuse #2. The fuel pump relay is activated by a ground from the ECM and the fuel pump relay gets its battery from the main relay(in the module)...during key on and through the start relay (during cranking).

Check the connections on the main relay module for corrosion.

It could also be a faulty main relay module.
