I have an Evinrude 150 E150ELEDB. It was running great then the starter went out. I replaced the started and now it turn over great but no spark. Before I put the new starter in I saw a you tube video that said to arch the red wire to the starter with a screw driver to see if the starter had power. I then changed the starter and now it doesnt start and no spark at plugs. Did I blow a fuse or something when I arched the red wire? Any help is appreciated. I live in the mountains of Colorado with no boat mechanics around. Thanks.

Those YouTube videos can be dangerous. If I want a good laugh, I grab a cup of coffee and watch one on outboard repair. My guess is that something spiked into an electrical component that then got damaged. Boobie is usually correct, maybe Racer can chime in here....he is quite experienced on these too. Thanks to all my mentors here, you guys are the greatest.

SO I have replaced the ignition switch, and the power pack. When I reconnected the battery it started right up and ran then stopped due to being cold. Then when I try to restart it nothing again. I disconnected the battery again for 20-30 minutes and when I reconnect the battery it runs again until I turn it off. Then restarting there is no spark again.

Check the solenoid connections as it transfers 12V to pack at start up. Asls check voltage on org wires from power coil to pack

Should have battery voltage on wire to pack off the solenoid when cranking and that 8-9V is to low. Try a different battery as it being weak may have damaged original starter
