I have a 100 h.p. 4 cyl.,2 stroke o/b. Battery is fully charged. Starter cranks but she just won't fire.
Upon reading the Seloc manual, I'm even more confused as to where to start. Can anybody point me where to begin trblshotng ? And I mean no spark on all cylinders.!

Hi it helps if you could give the year or number of the outboard. But first thing I would do is check the kill circuit,if an older motor, disconnect the Mercury tilt switch and try again

No kill switch, but what do u mean "tilt switch" ? U mean key or neutral safety switch ?
its a 94' eng. ser.# 0G014413

It's been a few months since I tried to start it again ,but same problem exists.now,I'm thinkin back to where I left off trouble shooting and I'm remembering that my meter was bouncing. I feel like it could be stator or trigger coil. Either way I'd like to be sure which. I'd like to buy the flywheel removal tool and holder, and that DVA attachment.

On older motors there is a barrel like object on the side of the motor with one wire to the switch-box and the other grounded,it prevents the motor from starting if tilted, and can fail, but that is on the older Merc,as far as I can see there isn't on on yours.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercury-Mar..._Accessories_Gear&hash=item486e47b7ae&vxp=mtr this is what you need to lift the outboard or remove the flywheel.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DVA-Meter...ter-Marine-Boat-ATV-Repair-Tool-/251470101902 This is the adapter though there are Youtube videos on how to make your own. These ebay links are for visual information only,I have no connection with nor know the sellers.

So, back to some basic questions- Do you have spark at cranking rpms on all cylinders? Test this with an inline spark tester. Do you have adequate compression on all cylinders?

Not trying to be a wise guy here... but you've checked the obvious stuff right? I can't tell you how many times a customer came in with "no spark," only to find that his kill lanyard was off. Aside from that, two things that mainly cause no spark in all cylinders are the stator and switchbox.

Ok, got a hold of the correct print from CDI electronics. I will begin troubleshooting next. Finally.

Hi. Can you please tell me which is the correct flywheel holder tool. I need that too. TY

I have no lanyard. Just key switch, thanx.

That is the complete kit to lift the motor and remove the flywheel.
There should be a kill switch, small button, on the controls to which there should be a red lanyard, something like this,http://www.ebay.com/itm/Boat-Lanyar..._Accessories_Gear&hash=item2ed415c462&vxp=mtr ,attached to it.
What type of controls do you have? Though when you disconnected the black/yellow stripe wire from the switch-box it shouldn't matter if the lanyard is in place or not,as you are disconnecting the kill circuit.

CDI pg.81 is my engine....4 cyl. using Single switch box and Four Ignition Coils
1. Disconnect black/yellow @ switch box---completed that....still no spark
2.Disconnect yellow wires from stator to rectifier and retest. Still no spark
but let me ask..should I have reconnected the black/yellow from step 1 ?

Btw, I have no rpm gauge.
Ok, I removed the stator & trigger coil. I performed a resistance check on the red to red/white and CDI says it should an OEM Resistance of 125-155 ohms. It read about 83-86 ohms. Then I checked the blue to blue/white resistance.it says it should be 5000-7000 ohms, mine had NO reading...open.!
i guess you could say it's time for a new stator.

Ok

Have you properly ID your system I see two different stators 6amp or 16amp and two different flywheels glued magnets or bolted in magnets. If the blue wires go to the stator did you change the ohm setting on your VOM It wont read high ohms on the lower scale. B e sure and confirm the readings before buying parts for sure. Test the trigger as well. Are they stock parts CDI parts will have different specs? Just take your time and confirm your readings a few times to be sure.
I have not properly id'd my system bc I don't know how. Yes, I did change the settings on my meter.
trigger is within specs. I saw two diff staters also; a 9 amp and a 16 amp. How do I find out which one to get?
it appears I have the bolted in magnets.

Can you see the part number of the stator? I will check but I believe they use the same flywheel. Do you have pics of the flywheel underneath to see if the magnets are screwed or glued?
Yes, I have pics of both. I'm just learning how to attach them.brb. I will send more pics later,I'm at work now; lunch.
