No spark at the plugs

I have a Mercury 3 cylinder 65HP 2 x stroke 1974 65HP outboard motor. Last year I used the boat / engine without any problems. I have kept the unit in my garage since then. This year I serviced the engine, only to find that there is an ignition problem ie. no sparks at any of the three plugs. I have removed the coil to find a crack in the plastic casing, although no sparks appear to be escaping. I wonder if this is the problem or weather it is the power pack unit causing the problem. With the ignition switched on there is no live power at the coil. Can anyone help me please?

No power to coil as its powered from switchbox. Check to see if you have 12v all the time on red terminal on switchbox and 12V on white terminal when switched on,
