New to mercury

So has the title stated I'm new to Mercury outboards and happy to be here. I've been an OMC guy for many years I wouldn't call myself a mechanic but throughout the years of working on them I'll kind of figure it out what they like and don't like. So now I'm trying to figure out Mercury the other day I bought a 1991 Mercury Black Max 150. And my question is are all black max XR series Motors like xr1 xr2 xr4? The reason why I asked cuz I called Mercury the other day with my serial number and they told me that it was just a 150. But when I look up online with the same serial number 4 different websites tell me that it's an XR4. My serial number is 0D038864. Can anyone help clarify this

Man I appreciate it fast Jeff. So what you think about my question you think it's an XR for or it's just the 150 the 2.0 liter in that particular year

Does the cowling have Xr decal?? If not its a plain 150......

Nope sure doesn't. Oh we'll thanks for the info. Is they're much difference from a xr model to a none xr

Xr has smaller diameter LU,different gear ratio,advance module,tuner and exhaust divider...
