Need some help with lower unit on mercury 200 EFI

Went out on lake and boat sounded loud and took a little longer than normal to get on plane. Took home and found noise in lower unit. Drained it and found metal shavings--lots-- My question is their any special tools to take this unit apart and replace what is wrong? I'm not a mechanic so I just have basic tools.

Does anyone have an idea how much it would cost to rebuild, see used ones, remanufactured and new prices.

Order one from SEI, $845 + $45 freight and 3 yr warranty. Have sold about 75 of these units in last couple of years and only had 7 failures.....

okay thanks for info, just wasn't totally sure its lower, but when motor out of gear sounds good, in gear clanking from lower as far as I can tell. is their another way to verify other than sound, metal shavings--heavy or oil leaking from unit?

Take it apart. "Drained it and found metal shavings--lots--" says alot.

faztbullet.... Which one will fit my 1998 200 efi merc? 90-205? is what I think is this correct?
