Need Help with a fluid problem 2001 130 hp

I have a Honda 130A (2001) that is leaking fluid from a seal located in the power tilt trim area. I first thought it was a sea star steering cylinder leaking and the fluid was running down the engine but after a closer inspection there appears to be a seal in the power tilt trim area with a reservoir just to the right of it which looks like it has a place to add fluid.
What kind of fluid does it take? Is there a repair kit similiar to the seal repair kit that sea star makes that comes with a special spanner wrench? The motor will still raise and lower but it is loosing some fluid, enough that there was a small trace on the ground below the engine. Thanks in advance for your inputs.

Re: Need Help with a fluid problem

It is POWER TRIM FLUID or you can use ATF, but the proper marine trim tilt fluid might be better for water homoginization.

Re: Need Help with a fluid problem

hi, you should use ATF oil or acdelco ATF oil. before you going add oil in reservoir check seals of main jack and tilt jack. if the seals are warn out change it
then add ATF oil into the reservoir.

Re: Need Help with a fluid problem

Not sure exactly what you're looking for but the parts appear to be available individually. Check out the page in the link below and note that the reservoir is item 21 and the fill cap O-ring is item 33. You can probably find the Oring (if that's what's leaking) at a hardware store and I've had great success using Lucas power steering fluid with conditioners as replacement fluid during rebuild. I don't know about topping off though. I'd drain it and replace the oil.
Hope this helps,

hi, no I`m talking about 31,34,35,36,37,38 these parts. change the O rings if necessary. thank you.

Re: Need Help with a fluid problem

Thanks for all the reply's but I'm still confused on how to do it. I only see an access port on the rear of the reservior where you could possibly squirt fluid into the reservior but no where to drain it. The only way I can see changing the seal is if you had a special spanner wrench to get to the seal and yes it is leaking around the seal.

I'm not sure this one has a dedicated drain screw. Yes, you should use a spanner to take the cylinder tops off. There are "other" ways but the proper spanner is the prescribed manner.

Hey, that rhymes! Spanner is the Manner!... But, I digress.

If it is leaking there, it is more than likely that the piston seals (items 36 in the parts blow up) have failed. You will not be able to repair the leak by simply replacing that upper O-ring. The entire unit will probably need to be removed from the motor frame for that chore and I would replace both sets of seals and o-rings.

Just be aware that if you tackle this job yourself, getting those seals back in properly without pinching and damaging them can be tricky.
Good luck.

hi, exactly if you want to change the seals you have to dismantle the trim pistons. some times to open the top screw of pistons, it is a risky job. some times
it is touch wood job.
