I have a 1995 Evinrude 150. The motor runs fine up to about 4300 RPM but when I try to open it up all the way it bogs the motor down as soon as I hit 5000 rpm. And when it does bog down you can’t just let out of it a little bit to and expect it to start running good again. You have to go all the way back to neutral then back into drive before it start running fine again. You can go to neutral and back into drive real quick and it will run fine. But if you don’t go all the way back to neutral it won’t open back up. Sorry I’m not great at explaining things lol. Hopefully you’ll get what I’m trying to say. Would anyone know where to start on this type of situation? It does leak a little bit of fuel from the carburetor bowl gaskets. I just bought the boat and had to put a new lower unit on it but the owner said he never had problems out of the motor itself. He only had a problem with the lower unit. The gears stripped out while he was going down the lake and the motor hit the rev limiter for a few seconds.
