Mercury Code Reader

Hi all. I have a 2012 Mercury EFI 90 HP. I am looking for a code reader to save me some trips to the dealer and the subsequent delays.
I have researched a TEchMate Pro 94706 on the Rinda.com site. I dont want to drop the coin without some more knowledge.
Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks for the input. I have a month wait to get the dealer to even take a look. By then summer is over here. That's why I'm looking for some reader advice. Cheers
