Mercury 90 custom reed valves

I have a year 2000 Mercury 90 3 cylinder. The engine runs and idles very well. From what I understand the factory reed pedals are stainless on these engines and if the fail it cause major damage. I was thinking about Installing the Chris Carson Marine Sport pedals in it. I contacted them and they said not only are they more reliable than the factory reeds they will also give me a boost in performance. Does anyone have any experience with these reeds? Should I leave it alone or do the swap?

Don't waste time or money trying to make a 90 hp into something it can't be. You'll get more benefits by making sure the engine is set at the correct height, a decent propeller and the weight distributed in the boat that facilitates the best overall performance.
