Mercury 60HP 2 Stroke Stator Question

Hi, hoping someone can assist me, I am diagnosing a loss of power and mid range miss fire.

The motor is used and I understand the previous owners mechanic changed the Stator (using a 75HP one), as he suspected a faulty stator might have been the issue. Challenge is, he may have fitted the wrong one - can someone ratify please?

Stator installed by mechanic 398-832075A17 - Red 16A

Correct stator listed in parts finder - 398-832074A 4

I believe the original trigger is still installed (99021A16 - Trigger Assembly)

Are both of the above stators compatible with my motor - or should I get another good used (398-832074A 4)?

Also are they both compatible with this switchbox (19052A 8 Switch Box) - I've just fitted a new one as the old one was dropping out at higher RPM. Perhaps the Red stator has cooked the internals..

Rest of the motor has been gone through (new plugs, coils, HT leads, switch box, grounds cleaned, carbs cleaned) - the issue sounds electrical.

Here's what the motor is doing, WOT she's at 2,600 RPM, but flat and missing coming out of the hole.

Thanks

Stators will interchange as both are 4 wire stators. It could be the stator adapter

Thanks, I have a spare one of those I could try. Does this just protect the switch box from excessive voltage of the higher Amp red stators?

Would this being faulty cause a miss-fire / poor running as seen in the clips attached?

Also could a faulty or non-compatible trigger cause this? - Hence the question on if the trigger works with both stator types?

It works as a voltage balancer or regulator

It is possible

Yes a trigger can cause issues but I have never seen one intermittent on a Merc. My suggestion is to take a timing light and find which cylinder is dropping under load. Could also be a carb issue with fuel delivery into carb leaning out.
