Have 2007 225 mercury pro xs. Running 26 pitch fury prop. Seems that over last 5 years, I have been going through lower units like crazy.
The last 3 have blown out prop shaft seals, let water in and well toasted lower unit. It seems that pinion gear looses a tooth. I have been told this will create excess heat causing pressure to push seals out. 1-is there a reason the pinion gears keep getting teeth knocked out and/or possibly another reason why the shaft seals keep getting pushed out.
