Mercury 225 4stroke Alternator

I have a 2019 Mercury 225 4 Stroke. Apparently the alternator went bad at 20 hours, rather disappointed. I can not get a replacement until the end of summer according to Mercury and every parts place I've tried. My question is can a marine outboard alternator be rebuilt in the same fashion as an automobile alternator? Thanks in advance for all you help! Part Number 8M0142248

you sure you did not blow the fused? happens when the battery is install backward . Follew te big wire to nthe alternator and usee a test light to see if there is power to the alternator
