Mercury 2 stroke outboard alarm question

Hey all, quick question. I have a 1989 mercury outboard 3 cylinder 2 stroke with a mercury 2000 controller. The alarm is part of the controller body. I've owned this boat for some time and everything had been great with the normal maintenance. I just realized that upon start up or koeo. I have never had a warning horn. I checked the low oil sensor and engine overheat sending unit and both function and set an alarm. I called the local mercury dealer and they had no idea if the start up sound should or shouldn't be there.

Does anyone have any clue if this setup would have the start up warning sound?
Thank you for any help.

No sound at start as alarm module on engine does not self test. It is a dumb module as it looks for float sensor and temp sensor to go to ground and trigger alarm

Thank you for the help and taking some time to answer my question! Did some of the mercury from that era have a self test? In the early 90s I was a marine patrol deputy and I seem to recall most had a start up beep.
