Can't gurantee this will be what you need. I believe that your model of XR4 used Merc's 2.4L powerhead and that particular powerhead was not included in the Merc service manual collection.

Anyhow, here is what I have. If it's no good you might have to drop the money for an individual service manual covering your specific model (and I mean "service manual", not Seloc's or Clymers, which might be a good investment anyhow)

You need the one with vertical reeds not horizontal....like the late model 135 2.0L
