Mercury 150 Idle Stablizer.. should I disconnect?

Hi, I have an idle stabilizer on a 1988 Mercury XR2 150. I have heard that I should disconnect it. I have had it on forever but in the last year 2 older original power packs have gone bad. 2 new power packs have been installed and everything is running well.

Was wondering if I should keep the Idle Low Speed Stabilizer disconnected. Its the unit that changes the wave form on the power packs somewhat.

Float test it......yes discard it and set max timing at 22 degrees cranking
