I've got a 1997 125ELPTO 2 stroke which lost spark after I ran it for 10 minutes and shut it down. I had noticed the voltmeter showed it charging high, like 16+ volts if I remember correctly. I believe this is because (I discovered later) I had changed the battery cables and only finger-tightened the cables (oops). I had noticed the voltmeter showed it charging high, like 16+ volts if I remember correctly. I've tested the fuse, ignition switch and safety switch...all good. I've disconnected the stator to check resistance. I haven't been able to find specs on this particular motor but here's my readings. There are 4 wires, two yellow, one green/white and one white/green.
Yellow to yellow = .001 ohms.
G/W to W/G = open
G/W to each Y = open
Each wire to ground = open
Based on this I'm thinking the stator is toast but wanted to get another opinion before I order one. TIA ~ Steve
