Alright I know one of you guys knows what's wrong with my Merc. Firstly, though, I removed it from one of my boats and mounted it on another. Wired in a new ignition switch and now can't get it to fire. The ignition switch has a black wire(ground), a red wire(hot), a yellow with red stripe( found this to be the choke wire) a black with yellow stripe which I believe is the magnito, a yellow with black stripe which I think is an accessory wire and a red with yellow stripe which is the starter wire. The back of the switch is marked A accessory, B for battery, C for choke, S for start and 2 marked M.
Now, I'm not sure if I may have screwed something up when I was going threw the wiring and touching wires to the hot side of the battery to find out which wire was which. I touched the blach with yellow stripe to hot and it got hot so I figured it was some kind of ground and I guess it was a magnito wire.

You have fried #1 CDM module and possibly the other three also, need to get CDI's ignition testing book from their website and test.

Opps! I have a book but the test said it requires a special meter for DVA? I have a fluke test meter, not sure what the DVA does.

I have a book but the wiring diagram didn't show the position of the wires on the switch. My experience is with car stuff, old car stuff. I'll get serial number for you guys later and post it. I appreciate the help.

Ok, folks finnaly got some more info for you guys and I do appreciate the help and advice. This is a model 115EXLPTO 1998 Merc 115hp 4 cyl. The serial number is 0G603693. I did a little research and I don't see where this model has a switchbox. Is that right? Also is there a difference between an 827509A4 and 827509A10 CDM.

Older models had switch boxes and ignition coils.------Yours appears to have eliminated the switch box and incorporated it's function into coils ( CDM modules ) instead of simple ignition coils. --------Time to do some testing.
