Merc 225 efi telltale

I have purchased a Seloc subscription in prep for fixing a cooling issue with my 2004 merc 225 2 stroke motor. The cooling flow diagram is good, however, the part that is not clear is how the water gets to the telltale from the pump. My engine does not overheat, runs too cold (about 98 degrees), never warms up, smokes too much on idle. No water coming out of the telltale, unless I put the hose to the cowling flush port. I am assuming that the impeller needs replacing, and possibly the poppet. Does this sound right? The water temp in the bay I run in was about 44 degrees at the time.

Thanks, jdski.

Pull off the telltale hose at the block to see if there is water pressure. If yes then clean out the telltale hose...spider nests inside...w/a peice of weedwacker string or coat hanger w/the end bent into a tight loop. Replace both thermostats...poppit valves are cheap so replace them. Replace the impeller if it has been awhile or if there is little water pressure from the telltale.

Where are these poppit valves and what do they do?. I've read abouut them on here, but don't know anything about them???BF

I just rec'd my new T'stat and poppit valve in the mail along w/new seals/bushings. Now I just need a warm day to install them and the new impeller. I also have a starter brush kit to install. Another month and I'll be on the lake.
