Mariner trim sensor

I have a 1979 175hp V6 mariner. My trim gage is not working. I can't find the trim sensor to replace it. I see a wire harness with 4 wires 2blue, 1black,and 1 white. They seem to be going down he mounting bracket but I can't see a sensor that looks like the ones that are for sale. There is only a metal cap with 2 screws on it where it shows the sensor goes on a Mercury. Can anyone help me out?

The white wire is the sender to trim gauge(should be white with violet stripe). This sensor is different than the newer ones and is NLA if bad.

Thanks! Is the sensor up at the hinge of the ram? How would I access it? The wires kind of disappear down into that area.
