Lower unit shift shaft removal, bf225

Just committed to buy a rebuilt lower unit. It has 2006 and up shift shaft. My boat is 2004. How hard is it to exchange?

I can't answer your question, but making this post just to keep your question active. If I were in your position, I would try to contact a dealer who has been dealing with these engines for a long time. You might also try Honda customer service. Thanks, I've got a blow up from service manual, it looks like it lifts straight out, after the water pump housing is removed. I'm sure putting it back is not as easy. My boat is currently at a honda service center, but I may call another shop on the coast.
