lower unit ratio question

I have a 1995 mariner 200. i suspect that it originated off of a fish n ski.
The question is, did mercury outfit the fish n ski boats with a different gear?
The reason I ask is my old motor was nearly 8 to 10 mph faster at he same rpm's.
Just wondering.

Sorry but no....200hp up are 1:87...200hp under are 2:1 and the Xr series with small case are 1:78. You can rotate the flywheel by hand and count how many turns prop make when in gear to see if it has had a lower unit swap....
