lower end interchange

I have a 1992 Evinrude 60 with a bad lower end I was told that a 1993 Johnson 70 lower end would interchange and work on my Evirude. I am looking at the end of the driveshafts and they do not match the Evinrude has 16 splines and the Johnson has 4. Can I swap out the drive shafts and make the Johnson work?

The Johnson is NOT a 1993 model !!!----It is 1988 or older.-----Simple as that.-----Talk to the seller on this one.

well, I will have to take it as a lesson learned. so by the splines on the shaft, I have a much older lower end than I was told. could I use the body and put my gears in it because the lower part of mine is no longer there, the part that protects the prop? thanks for your time.

Take it to a prop shop and have a skeg welded on
