Johnson 48SPL and Evinrude 48 SPL Difference ?

I have a 1990 Johnson 48 SPL. There is an Evinrude 48 SPL for sale (not running) . My question is ... What is the difference between these two? I was thinking of getting the Evinrude for spare parts motor. Are the parts swappable? If they are the same year or close to the same year?

Are 1987 Evinrude and 1990 Johnson a close enough match to swap parts ?

Lower units and midsections are totally different !

1989 was the year of change for the 48's
carbs are different, idle needle add to the 90, heads are different, 1990 head has thermostat at top much easier to change, on the 90 is the power pack still under the flywheel? if so at some point you'll want to get the CDI conversion to move it to the side of the block, the ignition coil are different, 90 is 2 in one unit , 87 two separate, many internal parts are the same

Ok , my 1990 Johnson has the jet pump on it soo... to get that Evinrude would not be a good spare to use for a power head back up. Thanks for the advice. I'll keep looking.
