Johnson 150 won't idle

I have a 150hp looped 60 that won't idle and hard to get rpm's to 1500. From 1500 on up runs good. Themostat was replaced and now both sides are hot to the touch but still sneezes and dies at idle or when put in gear. Thanks for your help

Is this something that developed suddenly ?------Start with a compression test.---Post the numbers.

Has been a prob for at least a year. Used to help if I prime as I gave it throttle to get on plane Runs fine wot

This is a classic symptom of a dirty idle fuel path. Most likely the throttle bodies themselves....in particular, the calibration pocket.
Plenty of posts on this subject. I know I must have at least 50. Search.
