Johnson 140 vro v4 water leak

Hey guys I am new here and I am hoping you can help. I am in the process of restoring a 1989 Hydra Sports X270 bass boat. I have been working on the engine and have it running great. However I have a water leak in my Johnson VRO 140 from behind the throttle plate. There is a rubber insert held in to what appears to be some kind of water manifold by a slide through metal bracket, that in turn is held in by the throttle bracket. Well it is leaking from around that rubber insert. I have spent many hours on line trying to find info about where to get the parts or what to do to fix the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a pic of the area that is leaking but don't know how to post it since photobucket stopped hosting images. Thanks in advance.

I think they did away with that water control valve.----Forget online searching.------Find a dealer with info and perhaps a kit to do away with it.

There was no kit that I am aware of. We did come up with a field fix for the Power Boost Cooling System. It was troublesome to keep the engine up to thermostat temp at idle. It is not a hard repair, but involved. It takes parts from a 1986 3 cylinder motor. If you would like a list (by part number) I can supply one? You use your thermostats (they are serviceable) & a lot of your hoses if they are still in good shape?

That would be great t2stroke, I would really appreciate that. The motor runs great and I don't want to chance damaging it because of a water leak. Thanks a lot for the info and the help.

Just wrote the whole thing & couldn't post it. Timed out. Checking to see how I can avoid that before I type it all again. Hang on.

When faced with typing an unusual long post... do it in one of your editors, then when you have it corrected if needed, simply do a copy/paste procedure. Bing Bing... you're done. That timing out business (ugh!)
