Is it junk? Can it be migged ,tigged aluminum welded then resurfaced so the head gasket won't blow out. Not sure why it happened. I had no compression in this cylinder so i removed head to replace gasket and found that the aluminum has broken away. Its a 1996 XR6 150 that ran great till this. Can it be fixed?

The motor will have to be torn down, sleeve removed, rewelded and machined and new sleeve installed. As racer posted it may be cheaper to find a block..if you go the fixing route call Jays block shop in sparta,tn

I had encountered a lot of pieces before in some of the renovation projects I undertook over the recent years. We have a special place for them called the dump. Since they are so many and come with garbage, we even rent a disposal bin from 186needabin.com to avoid all the fuss of looking for a bin in the area we work. If I were in your place, I would avoid dealing with it in the first place. Too much rubbish that gets renovated and never survives a year after you use it. Go for a new one and have your mind at ease.
