Hi can somebody please explain to me if this connection where my finger is, is it for a water gauge or temp gauge on a 2000 Johnson 90 hp ocean pro outboard, I start the motor and water squirts out, if it’s for either does this motor need to have them connected or can u operate it without the gauge

There is no " need " to run any gauges.-----But a wise owner would install a water pressure gauge and a tachometer.

Thanks heaps for the info much appreciated
Hi racerone, it’s EricC sorry to contact you but , need to ask you a question back on 16 October about my out board squirting out water on the photo u seen , you said it’s a optional water pressure gauge ? As I’m in Australia , nsw I have been everywhere & on line to find a gauge only can find electric ones , can’t find any other type Can u please explain exactly what type and where I can purchase it in Australia Thanks Ericc

Just Google "outboard 30 psi water pressure gauge"
Hi is that 30 psi gauge big enough ( so the 30 psi does that mean will only read up to the 30 psi ) been told the 90 hp Johnson run up to around 40 psi? ) as I don’t know , I’m just learning about this type of motor more information about these motors the better even looking for the work shop manual for the 2000 Johnson 90 hp ocean pro not sure about the right one to get ?

30 psi is plenty and below is link to manual
Hi checked out that book on that link , it doesn’t cover the motor I have as model number on my engine is BJ90VLSIG , in the specs in the book my motor isn’t isn’t covered

??----Are you not aware that these motors are basically the same from year to year ??----Every thing you would need to know is in that manual.

Like I said previously in conversation I don’t know anything about this this motor , I replaced my old 70 hp, 3 cylinder which was a 1982 model , now I jumped to a 4 cylinder which I know nothing about at all , I was just going on what the book said on which motors it covered

And also can u please explain to me my motor supposed to be self oiled , tried to hook back up but when I tried to prime the oil up to motor the primer bulb gets hard oil is flowing through, from reservoir through to where hose hooks up to motor ? From there not sure if it’s going through so I am going to pre mix at moment unlit I find out or is it recommended to just keep pre mixing thanks Eric

Hire a shop to install / commission this motor.------Mistakes are easy to make and can very hard on your wallet.----Sorry to be blunt here.
