Ignition problem

I have a 2004 Honda 225 I am in the middle of switching fuse panels as the old one on the dash was all corroded. When I turn my key the gauges cycle and read properly, when I go to start the motor I have no crank or anything but the gauges flicker like normal when starting. I also don’t have any power to tilt trim. I replaced the batteries 2 days ago.

Update I ran jumper wires directly from the battery to the starter and now my tilt trim works and the motor turns over from the key. Do you think it’s a bad wire connection somewhere?
 
Yes, bad connection. First place I would look is go back to your cables at the battery post. Did you clean the cable clamps AND the battery posts when you replaced the batteries? Grab them and give em a twist to see if one is a little loose.
 
Your battery cables can be rotted inside the insulation too. You can check that by feeling along the wire while bending it a bit, it will feel a bit wimpy when the wire is bad inside.

Another good method for finding both bad connections and rotten, corroded cables and wires is...

.....Voltage Drop Testing.

But....
....usually, when I mention reading about how to do that, people's eyes start drooping, their heads get heavy and loud snoring ensues.🤣

I noticed lastnight my positive post was a tad loose maybe it was hand tightened. I’ll have to crank it down today after work.

I cleaned the connections to both batteries and double checked made all tight. Still does same thing. Only works when I have jumper wires from battery to starter
 
What exactly do you mean when you say "jumper wires from battery to starter"?

What I'm asking is:

Are you using a jumper cable to bypass the positive cable?

Or are you using a small diameter wire from battery positive to starter solenoid?

Or, something else?

A photo would help me understand what you're doing to make it work.
