hello everyone new to outboards i hope someone can help me solve a problem my brain fart created 97 40hp 4cy stator replacement two piece flywheel i removed 8 bolts pulled flywheel "piece #1" then pulled "flywheel hub"? " piece #2" and have no idea how to assemble back together back in time any help would be appriciated ............97 sundance f17 my daughter purched and blew stator and switchbox first time out someone help save me

I received the service manual today doesn't have anything about

Easy peazy...replace the center hub (only one way)..remove #1 plug (top)...insert screwdriver into plug hole and rotate crankshaft till it reaches TDC(most it will push out and stops an starts to retract)... look at flywheel and find TDC mark and align with timing pointer on block and install. May be a half a bolt hole off but its will be back together properly.

You can also look at rust marks / stains to see where it was.-------Used that technique on machinery many times.

If this doesn't clear up the stall at take off what else could be causing this issue?

You can mount the flywheel in any bolt hole and it will not be out of time..just markings in wrong spot. The inner hub controls the timing....
