Honday BF15 Compression test questions

I butchered the lower unit of a 2006 long shaft engine when the bearing in the extension froze up. Before investing in a new lower unit, I want to run a compression test which means I need a new toy (tool)... My best guess is a screw-in gauge is better than the rubber tipped ones? Does anyone know if it's a 9MM plug?

Any insight would be appreciated...

Yes, I believe that it's 9mm threads. However, be careful about buying a gauge because many of them don't come with that adapter. Make sure you open it up and make sure the adapter is in there before leaving the store. Otherwise you will end up having to make one.....like I did!

Disconnect the fuel line and drains the carburetor. Pull both plugs and don't forget to hold the throttle wide open while pulling the engine over. Having a friend help gets better results.

Good luck.
