Honda BF90A no start question

Hi, thanks for letting me in the forum!

My issue :

Pontoon with a 2006 BF90A 4 stroke. Had issue with idle and cutting out and a mechanic tore it apart and rebuilt/cleaned the carbs. Replace a jet and tuned and sync'd it and it ran absolutely top middle all of august. I last ran it August 23rd. Went down saturday 9/8 and it would not start. It would crank and try fire sputter and die. Only thing I notices was gas dripping out of the screws on the fuel pump. There are 4 screws and couple drops from one screw. Should I replace the pump or maybe new gasket? Would that cause my issue?

Thanks for any insight and again thanks for letting me join.

Those fuel pumps are not serviceable so order a new one if it is leaking. Make sure the choke is operating, when you lift the warm up lever to the max you should hear the choke engage.

If gas is dripping out of the torx screws which hold the pump halves together, then it is likely you need to replace the pump. You can try tightening the screws and seeing if it stops leaking.

If you order new fuel pumps, make sure to order the new o-rings which seal the pumps to the engine block as well.

I believe the diaphragm is also the gasket which seals the fuel pump halves, but I have not yet taken apart my old pumps to see if that is actually true. My old pumps worked ok so long as I kept pressure in the system via the fuel bulb.

It appears my issue was mostly operator error. I did tighten the torx screw with no luck in resolution. Speaking with the mechanic who rebuilt the carbs and doing some research online here was the solution.

Since it had sat in the hot sun for a couple weeks the gas in the carbs and pumps evaporate. I had to pump the primer bulb excessively (like 20 times) until I could hear gas gurgle in the carbs. Did that and pulled the manual choke and it fired instantly. Pushed the choke back in and idled perfectly. Shut it down and it fired right back up.
