Honda BF50D Sensor?

Hello, I'm trying to identify the following part for a Honda BF50D
2013-06-10 15.28.26.jpg
My mechanic here in Mexico told me to get this part and I'll order
online from USA but I'm not sure of the name of the part so I can
order it.

Thanks in advance!

That looks a lot like part of a bystarter valve for CARBURETOR fuel enrichment. But the only reference I could find to a BF50D on boats.net parts listings was for a pre 1997 FUEL INJECTED outboard and that part would not apply.

So, I think you will have to wait until hondadude sees your post. He will probably have an accurate answer for you. I'm interested too.

HEY MIKE...why was that pre '97 50hp fuel injected model discontinued? Lots of problems?

This could be a case where different countries identify the Hondas differently.

I agree with Jimmy. It looks like a bystarter on a carbureted engine with part of it missing.

A picture with the part in its location on the motor would help.

If we are both correct....and it is a carbureted engine, then the part number will vary based on one or both of two things.

1. The engine serial number. There are two different bystarters part numbers that vary by serial number.
2. The jet number on the carburetor bowl. There will be a 78 or 80 engraved in a flat spot on the carb bowl just above the drain nipple.

Jimmy,

I think boats.net just have their listings twisted around. There was no pre 97 fuel injected 50 HP.

Thanks for the replies, this is a carburetor motor, I saw another mechanic yesterday that told
me this is a "Starter Bypass".

But he told me my serial number is for a fuel injection model, I think probably parts of 2 motors
(1 Fuel injection, 1 Carburetor) might have been replaced and that is how it ended with the fuel
injection serial number.

This is the info on the motor.

Engine Serial:
BBEJ-1008281

BF50D

Honda 50HP Four stroke

The starter bypass has "CLBKV" written on one end.

Thanks again, I'll look for the engine serial number and carburetor bowl next time I see the motor, I'm not sure if the "CLBKV"
is the part model on the bypass.

You have the older bystarter. The CL indicates the older type.

It may be a little extra work, but I recommend upgrading to the newer bystarter and a new float bowl. It will make starting a lot easier.

16130-ZW4-F01 for the bystarter and 16023-ZW4-F01 Float Chamber Set. Depending on how the mechanic takes the carburetor off, he may also need 17151-ZV5-000 Intake Manifold Gasket, 17384-ZV5-000 Silencer Plate Gasket and possibly two 16221-ZW4-000 Carburetor Gasket.

Like I said, this will make starting easier.

Otherwise, just order the older bystarter 16023-Zw4-H01.

Mike

By the way, your Serial Number does come up as a BF50D, a fuel injected engine....very odd.

Thanks a lot, just one last question, when I look for the older by starter with
the part number 16023-Zw4-H01 I get that it is a float chamber set, is this the
part number for the bystarter?

I'm not really sure about the serial number, my guess is that the motors were
combined in some way, knowing how they do things in Mexico to get something
working this would not be rare haha.

Thanks again for the help, I appreciate it.
