Honda BF50a wont start

carb's were rebuilt one year ago, the boat was started 6 months ago, the fuel line was disconnected then ran out of fuel. I am trying to get the boat started now and doesnt seem to be getting fuel to the spark plug (they dont seem wet) there is fuel into the carb, the floats are not stuck, the boat is in neutral, the kill switch lanyard is in place. The Carb's dont look bad but im wondering if they could need to be rebuilt again or am i over looking something. Thanks for your help

You probably do have a carburetor problem. Is the fuel fresh?

If it's electric start, you can try using a propane torch to feed the carb inlets some fuel while someone turns the key. Doing this is a quick way to see if it wants to fire at all. It's a little tougher with a pull start but the same principle. I NEVER recommend using ether. Even a little will harm the engine.

Putting the engine up for six months without thoroughly draining the carburetors allows sediments to form in the bottom of the float chambers, clogging the circuit feed and vacuum break passages located there. Running the engine until it stops does not get all of the fuel out of the float bowls.

You might try opening the bowl drains and simply pumping FRESH gasoline through the bowls with the primer bulb as a sort of "poor man's flush". It's messy so prepare to catch as much as you can. If you can get it running then you can run a mix of gas and Sea Foam or Lucas Fuel Injector Cleaner through and it might clear up.

Good luck.
