Honda bf40d speed sensor tube

Hi, i have a 2024 Honda BF40d tiller outboard

I did the water pump service replacing the impeller and other parts with the Honda factory kit.

Question, where does the speed sensor tube connect to when putting it back together. I didnt disconnect it down below, the black rubber hose with the nipple, can figure out where it connects.

Finding this photo online, it looks like it just hangs out in the air.

The honda instructions for the water pump kit is leaving this detail out.

I have tried to order the Honda shop manual but it is on constant back order.

Thanks for your input.

Hi
I'm not even sure.this addresses your question but here it is anyway.

I don't know how the hose is routed into the extension case but items 22, 23, 67 and 8 "hose clamps" in the link below is how it connects at the top of the gearcase.

There's got to be an entry point for the hose someplace up higher but I can't find an example of for that.

It may be another fitting up higher so I will keep looking for something like that.

Good luck.

It doesnt make a whole lot of sense. I use the garmin GPS for speed since it tiller steered and i dont have separate gauges.

I am considering just putting a plug on the end. I did the work myself because the boat shop near me wanted $350 plus parts to do the water pump and it would take them 2 weeks. I did it myself in 45 minutes for $55 in parts
