Honda BF150 Rough Idle, Alarm

Hi All,
I have a pontoon boat with a Honda BF150A4 (best I can tell.) It has a rough idle but seems to smooth out when underway. It appears that the previous owner replaced the air idlecontrol valve. I’ve replaced plugs, fuelinjectors, and fuel filters. While doingsome other work under the helm, I discovered the previous owner had also disconnectedthe alarm beeper. Sure enough, after re-connectingit, I’m getting an alarm after starting the engine that continues while drivingat speed. The engine does not shut downinto “limp mode”. I had the dealer put itonto the computer and he says the only code is for the heated O2 sensor. I’m hesitant to buy one before I’vetroubleshooted everything else because as you know, the O2 sensor is stupid expensive. Plus, I have another boat with a Honda BF90that was also throwing an O2 sensor code that continued to alarm after Ipurchased and installed a new sensor. The same dealer took that boat back in and said it was the wiring harness afterall (also stupid expensive). Any ideason what else I can check or troubleshoot before throwing a new HO2 sensor init? Any advice would be greatlyappreciated.

If you have a check engine light then that is in fact a typical symptom of an O2 sensor failure. Your dealer should have been able to read the voltage output from the O2 sensor to confirm it has in fact failed. The voltage should fluctuate up and down at idle, if voltage remains steady then the sensor is not operating
 
I only have a green light\red light. Red light was not on. I don't have a lot of faith that this service department really knows what they're doing to start with and don't want to buy another unnecessary sensor just to have them tell me it was really something else, again.
 
Well you should have 4 so you won't know if the check engineclight is coming on. I would suggest the O2 sensor has failed judging by your description
