On my 2004 Honda BF50 outboard I changed the slow jets, gaskets and cleaned the floats ..... this was my first time taking on this task.
There is a port /nipple on the bottom of the muffler assembly that I didn't hook up anywhere I think it just a drain overflo ? I did get the engine to run for a short period and when it shuts down fuel drains from that muffler port . Is this normal if so how much is normal ? I did flood the system with too much fuel after re installing the carbs causing the motor to not turn over the next day it was able to turn over not sure it that caused any problems ?

Not 100% sure since I haven't worked on one of these but the nipples on the bottom of the muffler cover are drains. Items 10 in link below.

Honda always uses clear vinyl hose for drains.

I believe they are primarily there to remove any condensate and oil residue from the crankcase breather system. It should have clear vinyl hoses connected to it that routes to the outside of the lower case via exit holes.

But, my opinion is that you have a major flooding problem that,.according to what you say, has already caused a hydrolock. I recommend not trying to crank it anymore until you get this figured out.

Continued cranking with flooded cylinders could ruin this engine.

Also, the oil is likely fuel contaminated by now so that and the filter should be changed immediately.

The problem could be, like racerone said above, a sticking float valve or valves.

A stuck open SE valve might cause this but float valve is #1 on the list.

Hope you find it.

Good luck.
